The Australian Chapter of Batten Disease Support and Research Association - BDSRA

Help for Families

The Australian Chapter's volunteer Committee and associated positions are kindly undertaken either by families with affected children, who have lost their children or by friends.

Memberships are payable annually and an amount of $20 is all you pay. This entitles you to all the following support areas:

  1. An email and posting list is maintained where any news, updated or relevant information is received by us, you will be automatically notified.
  2. Referrals to other families who may be in a similar stage to you or reside closely. This can be arranged with consents from each party. Special bonds can be formed this way.
  3. Public awareness and fundraising is not only fun but is important for you to utilise all resources that surround you. We can help you when you are ready to do so.
  4. Who should I contact now? Please refer to the Contacts page of this site.
  5. Family Conference 'Get-togethers' are planned to take place every two years depending on variables at the time (particularly participation and available funds). Please visit our Events page to view the previous 'Get Togethers'.
  6. Information available to Families - please email the Secretary (gvjcando@ozemail.com.au ) and list which items you are interested in.
    a) Brochures
    b) Annual newsletters
    c) Fundraising ideas booklet

Publications on Batten Disease

As a member of this Association, you gain access to our lending library.  A list of publications that have been produced by the BDSRA in USA can be forwarded to you at your request.   Your own copy of Publications can be purchased for a printing and postage cost.
Please contact the Publications Librarian, Sandra Bain at Sandra.bain@lccq.org.au for further details.

These items will contain terminology and some instances that may be applicable to the United States only but are very helpful to the majority.
